Think Through Math, a Pittsburgh-based, online math intervention program, is the winner of the 2012 Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) CODiE Award for Best Mathematics Instructional Solution.

The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal trade association for the software and digital content industries, announced Think Through Math’s win as one of 29 CODiE Award winners in the education technology category. An SIIA CODiE Award win for ed tech companies is an especially prestigious honor, as each award winner has been selected by a combination of educators, who act as initial judges by selecting finalists from among all nominees, and SIIA members-company peers, who vote to select the winners from among the finalists.

The groundbreaking online math program is a powerful supplemental curriculum that personalizes student learning with unprecedented levels of differentiation. The program focuses intervention with personalized learning pathways, explicit instruction, meaningful practice, unparalleled motivational tools and unlimited access to LIVE, state-credentialed teachers (including Spanish-speaking teachers). Working in concert, these distinctive features transform the way underperforming students engage with mathematics.

“Think Through Math has delivered transformative results for hundreds of thousands of students nationwide with its personalized, highly-engaging academic learning experience,” said Kevin McAliley, CEO of Think Through Learning Inc. “We are honored that the program has been recognized by the technology and information industry with a CODiE Award in the highly competitive Best Mathematics Instructional Solution category.”

Written entirely to the Common Core State Standards, Think Through Math is focused on the critical foundations for algebra and serves students in Grades 4 through Algebra I. The program deepens students’ understanding of critical mathematical concepts, improves higher-order thinking and problem-solving skills, and motivates students to persevere and succeed. The program is proven to dramatically increase math proficiency when implemented 2 to 3 times each week. More than 60% of the students enrolled in the program at school also take advantage of its 24/7 access from home. According to McAliley, “The more students engage with the system, the more they learn, and the more they improve. As cognitive scientists know, the brain is addicted to success and it’s our goal is to feed this addiction.”

About Think Through Learning Inc. About the SIIA CODiE™ Awards The SIIA CODiE™ Awards, originally called the Excellence in Software Awards, were established in 1986 by the Software Publishers Association (SPA), now the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), so that pioneers of the then-nascent software industry could evaluate and honor each other’s work. Since then, the CODiE Awards program has carried out the same purpose – to showcase the software and information industry’s finest products and services and to honor excellence in corporate achievement.
