Questar Assessment, Inc.  (Questar), a leading educational assessment provider for states, school districts, and higher education institutions, recently appointed Daniel Luk as Chief Technology Officer. In this newly created role, Luk will provide leadership for Questar’s core technology and technology operations.


“With more than 20 years of technical, operational, and management experience, Dan possesses extensive knowledge in software engineering, software development methodologies, secured computing, data warehousing and mining, and voice and data communication,” said Roy Lipner, President and Chief Executive Officer of Questar, “Dan will be a key contributor driving innovation in assessment at Questar. We are very pleased to have him join our team.”


Most recently Luk served as President and CEO of Excelleron Resources, a startup company he brought to be fully operational and profitable. Previously he held leadership roles as Director of Technology for Thomson Reuters, where he was responsible for the development of large-scale data warehousing/data mining, Business Intelligence SaaS projects, and a multi-million dollar multi-year reengineering effort; Vice President of Technology for Thomson Prometric, where he was responsible for the computer-based and paper-and-pencil testing systems and all technology used to deliver professional licensure and certification assessment programs; and Chief Technology Officer for Capstar, where he was also responsible for assessment systems.


Luk earned a master’s degree in telecommunications from Saint Mary’s University and a bachelor’s degree in quantitative methods and computer science from Augsburg College.
