Innovative method of delivery provides behavior intervention and mental health services to resource-strapped school districts

PresenceLearning was recently named a winner of a 2014 Tech & Learning Award of Excellence in the Best New Products category for its live online counseling services. In its 32nd year, the awards program recognizes products that break new ground and that have added significant enhancements to proven education tools. This is the third Tech & Learning Award of Excellence PresenceLearning has received.

“Schools struggle to find mental health and behavioral resources for many reasons. Some simply find it difficult to recruit and hire qualified professionals, similar to the shortage of speech-language pathologists and occupational therapists. Others find their existing staffing level is insufficient for the high caseloads and required assessments in the district,” explained Stephanie Dahlke, Director of Behavioral and Mental Health Services at PresenceLearning. “For schools committed to multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) for behavior intervention, there is the additional challenge of having staff with the specialized training necessary to fully realize their investment in building MTSS capacity. The flexibility and affordability of online behavioral and mental health services can be a real boon to these districts.”

Live, online services expand school districts’ access to licensed specialists and mental health professionals to address students’ behavioral and mental health needs. Using the same online therapy platform as its speech and occupational therapy services, PresenceLearning connects schools with the highly qualified professionals needed to serve students in need of mental health and behavioral services.

To further help district leaders learn how live, online access to qualified professionals can help them address the challenges associated with the high demand for behavioral interventions and mental health services in schools, PresenceLearning recently released a free eBook titled, “Changing Minds: 5 New Ways to Tackle Tough Challenges in Behavioral and Mental Health Services.”

Since 2009, PresenceLearning’s online speech therapy and other related services have provided schools with a high quality method of service delivery. The company provides web-based access to a nationwide network of live, highly qualified, fully licensed speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists and mental health professionals who are available whenever and wherever they are needed. PresenceLearning also offers online assessments for both speech and occupational therapy. By partnering with PresenceLearning, school districts make sure that all students receive the services they need throughout the school year, with a focus on service quality, data and accountability.

PresenceLearning has delivered half a million live online therapy sessions in public school districts, charter schools and virtual schools of all sizes nationwide.
