Juan Zavala

Partner

Juan Zavala joined New Markets Venture Partners in 2019 and is a Partner. He is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and executing new investment opportunities as well as supporting existing portfolio companies and firm operations. He serves as a Board Director for Brains and Motion Education, Nexford University, and CreatorUp, and as a Board Observer for App Academy, BetterLesson, Censia, Climb Credit, Concentric Educational Solutions, Datapeople, Motimatic, and Regent Education. He is also actively involved with Mantra Health.


Prior to New Markets, Juan was an Investment Analyst at Siguler Guff & Company, a multi-strategy private equity firm with over $13 billion in AUM. At Siguler Guff, Juan was actively involved in deal execution and analyzing and monitoring direct equity and fund investments for the firm’s Small Buyout Opportunities Funds, investing primarily in industrial, consumer, and healthcare companies. Prior to Siguler Guff, Juan was a Research Analytics Associate at Cambridge Associates, an independent investment consulting firm, where he researched and analyzed various private equity managers, strategies, and markets.


Juan holds a B.A. in Economics with honors and a Minor in Mathematics from the University of Maryland, College Park and an M.B.A. with concentrations in Finance and Entrepreneurship & Innovation from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a CFA Charterholder and a CAIA Charterholder. Juan is a dual citizen of both Perú and the U.S., grew up in Germantown, Maryland, and lives with his wife in Bethesda, Maryland.
