Mantra Health Renews Partnership with the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area

The Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area names Mantra Health as its “Preferred Partner for Mental Health and Wellness Support.”

Washington, D.C. – November 5, 2025 – Mantra Health has officially renewed its partnership with the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area, which names Mantra the “Preferred Partner for Mental Health and Wellness Support.” The partnership has met growing demand with accessible, affordable mental health care and is now offering a high-quality solution at a discounted rate to all member institutions.

The landscape of student mental health has become a top priority for universities nationwide. According to the 2024-2025 Healthy Minds Study (HMS), 37% of students are experiencing moderate or severe depressive symptoms and 11% have seriously considered suicide. Unfortunately, many institutions face the difficult challenge of providing quality care while navigating tight budgets. This partnership enables the Consortium’s 20 member institutions, which collectively serve over 400,000 students, to expand access to digital mental health support without compromising the quality of care.

The results are apparent, as seen through Mantra Health’s partnership with member institution American University. Since implementing Whole Campus Care in August 2024, students across the United States have benefited from the wide-ranging, stepped-care model – ranging from therapy and self-guided wellness courses to one-on-one coaching and in-the-moment crisis support and intensive outpatient programming (IOP) – as shown through the data.

Among the students in Mantra Health’s clinical care:

  • 94% said their provider helped them reach their goals

  • 92% with severe depression saw meaningful symptom improvement

  • 89% of high-risk students saw an improved ability to finish their degree

“We have been thrilled with our partnership with Mantra Health because it immediately expanded our capacity to meet the growing mental health needs of our students,” said Jeffrey Brown, Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students at American University. “The most crucial benefit is that we are now able to reach more students and provide them with quality care when they need it most: during the nights, weekends, and over academic breaks. This assurance that support is always available is foundational to our mission of student success and well-being.”

“We recognize that universities are looking for ways to provide exceptional mental health services without the financial burden of current solutions,” said Ed Gaussen, Co-Founder and President of Mantra Health. “Our collaboration with the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area shows that it’s possible to deliver high-quality, comprehensive mental health support that is also affordable and scalable in partnership with on-campus counseling centers.”

“By offering the discounted rate to member institutions, Mantra Health is committed to helping our colleges and universities manage their budgets effectively while ensuring students receive the care they need,” said Andrew Flagel, President of the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area. “This partnership highlights a shared commitment to improving student well-being by proving that institutions can achieve both value and excellence in student mental health care.”
