As Chief Business Development Officer at Denver Health, she ensured the institution’s financial sustainability by developing commercial revenue streams that reinforced its mission to provide quality care to all. Her strategic initiatives not only preserved access to healthcare for thousands but also strengthened the institution’s capacity to serve its community effectively.


At Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, where Dr. Block served as CEO, her leadership led to treating over 70% of outpatient oncology patients in Colorado. By integrating innovative healthcare solutions and evidence-based practices, she significantly improved patient outcomes and set new industry standards that continue to benefit patients and providers alike.


As President and CEO of the Denver Zoo, Dr. Block’s strategic direction was instrumental in implementing the organization’s first strategic plan and securing approval for a 20-year master plan from city leaders. During her tenure at the Markle Foundation, where she held numerous executive roles, Dr. Block played a pivotal part in initiatives such as the Rework America Alliance and Skillful, which helped workers adapt to the evolving demands of the labor market and promoted economic mobility, particularly for those without a four-year degree. These programs cemented Markle’s status as a leader in workforce innovation and the use of digital tools to connect individuals with career opportunities.

She holds a Doctorate in Computer Science from Colorado Technical University, earned in 2020, with a specialization in big data, AI, and board governance. This research reflects her passion for addressing boardroom digital transformation best practices to help corporate directors better govern how organizations shape and secure their digital future.


In addition to her Doctorate, Dr. Block holds a Master of Science in Physics from Tufts University and dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Physics and Applied Mathematics from George Washington University. Throughout her academic journey, she demonstrated a keen ability to anticipate key developments in the field, contributing to forward-looking research at the intersection of theoretical physics and real-world applications.
